Wool is a small village in Dorset, Central Southern England, 15 miles from Poole (second largest natural harbor in the world) and 12 miles from Dorchester , the county town.
The population of Wool is approximately 2100 and somewhere around 10% regularly attend one of the four churches -
Anglican (Holy Rood)
Roman Catholic ( St Joseph 's)
Methodist
(or us) The Vineyard.
To find the church ask for Burton Road and then find The Gathering Place, the old stone Chapel-of-Ease on the right as you come in from the roundabout end
Its main industries are farming, tourism and a small retail shopping centre for the area.
Many people work outside of the village either at the local science park or local army barracks at Bovington and Lulworth. Some commute to nearby Poole or as far as London (100 miles away).
Wool is on the electrified main line from Weymouth to London Waterloo , and is well known to holidaymakers for being a place to be held up by the level crossing!
Why not come and see us if you're down this way? We are surrounded by the designated area of natural beauty known as Purbeck.
