A BRIEF HISTORY OF OUR FELLOWSHIP at THE GATHERING PLACE.
It all started many years ago when a small group of people - single as well as couples -met together in their homes to pray and to worship Jesus Christ. Their numbers grew and Wool Community Church was born which moved into the committee room (now the Library) at the d'Urberville Hall and then into the main hall. During this time we joined the Vineyard (U.K.) Organisation and became the Purbeck Vineyard Church. Early in 1999 we bought just the building for fifteen thousand pounds and thus began the major task of transforming it - with loads of love, sweat and tears - into what you see now - The Gathering Place, where we meet regularly to praise and worship Jesus Christ. We also have lots of fun! By the Grace of God we have been able to renovate the building, renew the roof, install a mezzanine floor plus a lift suitable for use by disabled people and, finally, to equip it to the standard you see today.
We were greatly blessed and give thanks for the number of donations, bequests and grants given to us and not least of all by the fundraising from within and outside our fellowshipWe hope you enjoy your visit and please seek out a member of our fellowship if you have any questions or would like any further information.
